Summer Adventure 2006

July 31st, 2006:

Chris was flying in to Salt Lake City today to spend a week with us.

Before picking him up, we headed out to Antelope Island, a state park

in the middle of Great Salt Lake, to set up camp. Here is our campsite:

Later we head out to the airport to pick up Chris. With his plane scheduled

to land at 3:50, at 3:00 we are driving on the interstate when POW!!! 

Another tire blowout. What the F…IRESTONE is going on here?!!!

From the highway breakdown lane, we call three places before we find

someone who can come out and change the tire for us. (It’s not that we

don’t know how to change a tire, but rather that we don’t have a jack that

will lift a 10,000 lb. motorhome, or a lug wrench up to the task either.)

Eventually we get back on the road, pick up Chris at the airport, and head

straight to the tire store to have the remaining three Firestone tires pulled

off and replaced. Three blowouts in three weeks – that’s enough for us.

Later, on the causeway going back out to Antelope Island, we stopped

to take the most incredible sunset pictures ever. Here are some:
