Dan & Annie's
Summer Adventure 2006

August 11th, 2006:

Last week we had son Chris with us; this week it’s Jeff.

He said let’s do the Yellowstone trip, so that’s where we are.

We haven’t done the geyser thing yet, but here are a couple of

geothermal features we have seen:

Lots of wildlife to be seen right from the road. Buffalo, elk, deer, moose,

coyotes, foxes, and wolves if you get lucky (we haven’t.)

Sometimes wildlife sightings create huge traffic jams. We had to

wait at least a half an hour to get by one “bear jam”, where people

just abandon their cars/motorhomes in the middle of the road to get

out and photo the bears. Here’s one:

Next day, we went for a hike.

That’s a grizzly footprint in the mud. It’s bigger than my size 10 boot.

On our way back we stumbled upon two beautiful, huge elk antlers.

We grabbed them and started carrying them back to camp. Just before

reaching camp we found a third – that makes one for each of us. Cool!

That’s enough for now. Tomorrow: Old Faithful!
