September 10^th, 2006:

Today we visited Mesa Verde National Park, in southwest Colorado. We didn’t start this trip with the intention of visiting all these national parks

(12 so far), but we were on our way to Durango, CO, and it’s only 20 miles out of the way, so we sidetracked over to see this place. Here it is.

These places have been abandoned for 700 years, and there has been practically no restoration work done. Almost all of the stonework is original.
